Post Harvest Challenge (PHC)
Despite technologies and methodologies being available to preserve food, food is being lost on a daily basis. FAO estimates 1.3 billion tons of food are lost annually. This means resources used for growing food are wasted. In developing countries losses are mainly attributed to post-harvest handling. The most affected people are small-scale farmers and households in remote areas without proper storage facilities and limited access to information.

Small scale solutions and technologies are available and have been tested in some instances for decades in many areas of the world. PHC will develop an online-platform for technology providers and solution seekers. The platform will have a section where technology providers can describe their solutions, benefits, availability and cost. In another section farmers, entrepreneurs, Governments, NGOs and others can put profiles of their own problems.

The platform will be moderated. The moderators will link the respective stakeholders.
