Earthlinks aims at encouraging a collective effort to generate and increase the impact of positive initiatives at any scale. Promote local interaction, match doers with their pairs, initiatives with multipliers, organizations with volunteers, local business with local initiatives and so on, fostering discussions over communities issues, for bottom-up rather than top-down decision-making and action-taking. Since so much information must be gathered for the overall decision-making process to succeed, technology may provide important forces leading to the type of empowerment needed for participatory models, especially those technological tools that enable community narratives and correspond to the accretion of knowledge and social mobilisation.

Earthlinks plan comprises three different types of users on its crowdsourcing community: individuals, communities and organizations; plus a tool to simplify projects' development integration and implementation.
